Coaching Services
If you’re thinking about working with me, you might be wondering: Do I need therapy, or would coaching be a better fit? It’s a great question — and one asked all the time. While both offer powerful support, they’re designed for different types of challenges. Whether you’re looking to heal from the past or create a plan for your future, this guide will help you figure out which path fits your needs.

What’s the Difference Between Coaching and Therapy?
Can You Move Between Therapy and Coaching?
Absolutely. Many people start with therapy, process their emotions, and then shift into coaching when they’re ready to focus on goals and next steps. Others begin with coaching and realize they could benefit from deeper therapeutic work — and that’s okay too. We can talk through this during your first call.
Therapy: Understanding Your Past and Healing for the Future
Therapy focuses on healing and self-understanding. It’s about exploring your experiences, emotions, and relationships — especially those from your past — to help you heal and grow. In therapy, we might work on:
✅ Processing difficult emotions, trauma, or grief
✅ Managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, or overwhelm
✅ Improving communication and relationship patterns
✅ Navigating major life changes, like divorce or loss
✅ Understanding why you feel stuck in certain areas of life
As a licensed therapist, I also follow clinical guidelines, and if needed, I can provide diagnoses and create treatment plans to support your mental health.
Coaching: Clarity, Action, and Forward Progress
Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. We won’t spend much time on the past — instead, coaching helps you get clear on your goals, overcome obstacles, and create a plan to move forward. Coaching is great for:
✅ Setting clear personal or professional goals
✅ Navigating career changes, big decisions, or life transitions
✅ Building confidence and improving work-life balance
✅ Strengthening boundaries and communication
✅ Staying accountable and motivated with structured support
Coaching isn’t therapy — I won’t diagnose or treat mental health conditions in coaching sessions. Instead, I act as a thought partner and strategist, helping you turn ideas into action.
If you’re ready to take action on personal or professional goals and want a supportive, strategic partner to help you move forward, coaching is the way to go.
Assessments.
At Hope in Healing we are certified instructors who can conduct the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) assessment on individuals, couples or groups. Contact us for rates and timing to schedule your assessment.
In addition to the HBDI, the Hope in Healing team has created and conducts an exclusive annual mental evaluation - The Mental Physical. The Mental Physical is a proactive approach to mental wellness and can assist with goal creation and tracking.
